Nancy Shevell Blakeman of NEMF to MTA Capital Post

NEMFs Vice President for Administration Nancy Shevell Blakeman has been appointed chairperson of the Capital Construction Committee of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.  The committee is responsible for overseeing $10 billion worth of major construction projects undertaken by the agency.

Ms. Blakeman joined the MTA Board in 2001 as an appointee of New York Governor George Pataki.

At NEMF, Ms. Blakeman is responsible for accounts receivable, corporate communications, benefits administration, purchasing of all supplies and equipment with the exception of trucks and overall office management.

She joined the company in 1983 as manager of administration and advanced to the post of director of administration before being named to her present position in 1986.

Ms. Blakeman is co-chairperson of the Arlene Walters Shevell Endowment Scholarship Fund, a family foundation which provides self-help groups for parents of addicted children and financial support for individuals in accredited rehabilitation programs.  She is active in numerous other charities and public interest organizations.

She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University, where she majored in transportation and was the recipient of the Fred Hurley Memorial Scholarship for Excellence in Transportation.

Ms. Blakeman resides in New York City with her husband, Port Authority Commissioner Bruce Blakeman, and their son.

The MTA operates seven bridges and two tunnels in the metropolitan area, as well as New York City Transit, the Long Island Rail Road, Long Island Bus and Metro North Rail Road.
