Country Time Introduces a New Canister to Help Raise Money for the Alexs Lemonade Stand Foundation
Tarrytown, NY (June 10, 2005) Just before her first birthday, Alexandra Alex Scott, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. At age 4, Alex declared that she wanted to raise money to help her hospital find a cure for pediatric cancer. To make the dream of a cure come true, Alex decided to build a lemonade stand in her front yard in the summer of 2000 and sell cups of Country Time Lemonade to raise money. She continued her charge every summer after until she passed away peacefully at home in 2004 at the age of 8 after battling cancer for 7 years.
Alexs spirited determination to raise awareness and money for all childhood cancer research while she bravely fought her own battle with cancer has inspired thousands of people, from all walks of life to raise money and give to her cause. Alexs family and supporters are committed to continuing her inspiring legacy through the Alexs Lemonade Stand Foundation. In 2004, with the help of generous people around the country who set up lemonade stands, sent donations and held other fundraisers, more than $1.5 million was raised to benefit the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.
Before she passed away, little Alex set a big goal -- raise $5 million in 2005! Alexs parents, Jay and Liz Scott, are looking to continue their daughters legacy and make sure Alexs $5 million dream comes true. To help reach the Foundations goal, Country Time Lemonade has donated over 10,000 canisters of lemonade to support Alexs Lemonade Stands around the country. Additionally, they are introducing a limited edition Alexs Lemonade Stand product. With each purchase, Country Time will donate five (5) cents to the Alexs Lemonade Stand Foundation.
All of us at Country Time were inspired by Alexs goal to raise funds for cancer research, said LaJoy Suber Frederick, Brand Manager for Country Time Lemonade. We hope that donations from this new product will help further Alexs dream of finding a cure for pediatric cancer.
