Georgia-Pacific Names William Nahill Chief Procurement Officer

ATLANTA, GA. March 03, 2005 -- Georgia-Pacific Corp. (NYSE: GP) today announced that William Nahill has joined the company as chief procurement officer. He reports to Steven J. Klinger, executive vice president -packaging.
In this new position, Nahill is responsible for strategic sourcing across Georgia-Pacific's businesses and staff functions. He will leverage supplier relationships on behalf of the company, institute metrics to track the impact of sourcing, and work closely with business unit and functional leaders to streamline purchasing processes. Additionally, Nahill will partner with Jean-Luc Zauner, chief procurement officer - international, to develop consistent sourcing policies, procedures and processes for the company.

We will synchronize our U.S.procurement function with the companys international operations to maximize cost savings and increase Georgia-Pacifics competitive advantage.

Nahill will be based at the companys Atlanta headquarters. Prior to joining Georgia-Pacific, he held various leadership positions at Conoco Phillips for more than 20 years, including chief procurement officer and general manager.

A native of Massachusetts, Nahill earned a bachelors degree in biology from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., and graduated from Cornell Universitys Executive Development program.
