Kandel Transport Inc

Kandel Transport Inc. was founded in 1959 by Virgil Kandel, it was then called Kandel Produce Co., Inc. Kandel Produce bought and sold truckloads of produce under the authority of the U.S Department of Agriculture. The company produce also arranged for transportation of the loads. Kandel Produce and Seaway Reefer were sold to Richard Daniels in 1984. These two companies were merged to form Kandel Transport, Inc. in 1989; at the same time Kandel acquired I.C.C. authority.

They are a small contract motor carrier based in Akron, Ohio. Most of their customers are manufacturers of frozen foods, dairy products and fruit flavorings. The company pride themselves in providing high levels of customer service, and providing safe equipment and drivers.

Along with their sister company, Kandel Express, they offer clients a variety of services, including climate controlled warehousing, brokerage, and third party logistics. They are a fully integrated transportation service provider. Their market place is in temperature controlled commodities with multiple stop loads with short to medium length in a service area primarily in the Eastern United States.

The company is a regional refrigerated carrier serving Ohio and surrounding states. Their fleet consists of 13 company owned tractors and 9 leased independent truck owners. They have recently opened a 75,000 square foot cold storage facility.
 
Kandel Express was formed in 1992 to help keep brokerage activities with outside carriers separate from their core transportation business. Because brokerage is not their primary focus, they prefer to deal with a select number of quality motor carriers who are similar to us in size and areas of operations. Kandel Express Corp. is a brokerage firm and logistics provider. Kandel Express is not a subsidiary of Kandel Transport, though the two companies have a common thread.
 
The company is capable of providing any of the services for their customers such as Refrigerated Truckload Hauling, Refrigerated LTL for Selected U.S. Cities, Contract Dedicated Runs / Just-in-time service, Brokerage/3rd Party Logistics, Customer Pick up loads, Dropped Trailer Service, Refrigerated Trailer Rental, Local Pickup and Delivery/Re-Delivery of Loads, and Interplant Shuttle Service.
