Wetsel Seed started in 1911 serving numerous states of U.S. Their primary locations are in Harrisonburg, Virginia and Kittanning, Pennsylvania which allow Wetsel to be very diverse in their product mix, including lawn and garden supplies, grower materials, seed and fertilizers, golf course maintenance products  and water gardening and bird supplies.

Their customer base is provided with several marketing techniques including major catalogs dealer, grower, turf, plant material, and retail. They inventory over 17,000 products and service over 11,000 customers. Their customer base is basically divided into the two categories Lawn and Garden including retail garden centers, hardware stores, wild bird centers, home centers. Wetsel also services federal, state, and local governments, municipalities, major universities, as well as local schools, parks and recreation departments, major chain stores, farm supply stores.

Wetsel is more than just a seed company and through their commercial grower department they provide the greenhouse and nursery industry with a complete line of structures, equipment and supplies. Wetsel is also a wholesale distributor serving home and garden, commercial growing, farming and turf trade, sod growing, landscapers, golf courses and sports athletic fields. They stocks top on the line grass seeds, including Kentucky bluegrasses, turf type perennial ryegrasses, fine fescues, hard fescues, tall fescues, Bermuda grasses and bent grasses. These are all tested for purity and germination to ensure the highest quality.
 
Wetsel carries over 10,000 products in inventory in their warehouses in Harrisonburg and Kittanning. They offer expansion of many product lines already introduced and additional lines that are offered exclusively on a drop ship basis. Wetsel Seed is a member of GroGroup which offers Growise program and GroSource program to help the independent retailer compete in the market place through competitive pricing, promotions, national advertising, merchandising management and operation support.
